PANEL/ROUNDTABLE: Pluriversal Designs: Creating Anti-racist communities of practice (90 min)

Abstract

Faculty members from CEHD and invited faculty members from other universities use their study of two books Arturo Escobar’s (2018) "Designs for the Pluriverse: Radical Interdependence, Autonomy, and the Making of Worlds" and Ibram X. Kendi’s (2019) "How to be an Antiracist" as a springboard for discussing the transformation of their teaching. Each panelist shares challenges from their own experiences in teaching sensitive topics as they address antiracism in their teaching of undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of Sports, Teacher Education in Technology and Curriculum Design, and Critical Discourse Analysis an Advanced Research Methods course for doctoral students.
