Abstract

As a follow up to last yearâs presentation, we developed a practice of reflection teaching, and while witnessing our studentâs learning. We reviewed what and why learning took place in our classrooms/practice rooms. This reflective practice allowed for purposeful planning. As members of the CVPA Dance faculty, we offer a follow-up on the 09-10 academic year of teaching, which encompassed ideas generated during MFA thesis research. Our table session presents how we blend undergraduate creative activity with inquiry procedures that evoke deep learning, synthesis of theory and practice, and student engagement. As collaborators in the artistic endeavor, instructors also learned from our students. This presentation describes and reflects on how Dance faculty worked with students to balance creative and critical engagement to foster intensive learning in their classrooms.
