Projects with a Focus on Historiana

In the past 30 years, the European Association of History Educators, known as EuroClio, has developed numerous student-centered projects to meet its curriculum, educational, and pedagogical goals, as well as the needs and interests of history teachers in 50 countries. While many of these projects may be European based, the themes are universal ones, and the materials incorporate the latest historical scholarship and pedagogy. This article intends to acquaint readers of World History Connected with EuroClio’s effort to provide additional resources for history educators, as well as to recruit contributors to its various projects, with emphasis on the work of EuroClio’s free history education website, Historiana, and its Historical Content Team. Historiana seeks to promote transnational, multi-perspective, and representative materials as detailed on its website.[i] Historiana has sought to address this issue by identifying teaching resources that promote critical thinking through the analysis of well-chosen images and a clearly stated essential question. Over the past ten years, Historiana has gathered exemplary images and questions created by over 300 contributing professional volunteers—historians and history educators—from over 40 countries.
