Discovering the Reasons Why the Rate of Car Accidents Is Higher in California, Texas, and Florida.

Abstract

Automobiles, specifically cars, are the world's second most dangerous mode of transport, second only to Motorcycles, and far ahead of aircraft, ocean liners, and trains. The three states that lead the United States in car accidents are California, Texas, and Florida respectively. Many accidents occur in low visibility and on massive highways, or near large cities. Temperature, visibility, wind speed, and weather conditions all affect the causes of car accidents. Solutions for these things can entail reducing the number of cars on the road, and fixing the design of cities. The redesign of highways is also important, as lowering the number of lanes on a highway reduces the number of dangerous maneuvers needed on the road, as well as the reduction of the number of cars on the road. In this research, we study the factors that contribute to the most number of automobile accidents in the United States working through a data science approach including collecting datasets for car accidents for various states, cleaning the data as required, visualizing the data to look for trends in the data along with some data analysis.
