The parent Ca3Ti2O7 compound has been reported to be a photocatalyst with a band gap that could harvest sunlight. It is a good candidate for adjusting band gaps to study how this affects photocatalytic behavior. Here, we study Ca3Ti2-xMnxO7 (x = 0.15, 0.25) compounds by doping Mn on the Ti site in the crystal structure to modify the band gaps. Ca3Ti2-xMnxO7 (x = 0.15, 0.25) compounds were synthesized using a solid-state reaction method. The powder X-ray diffraction technique was used to examine the phase purity. SEM-EDS were performed to check the particle size and confirm the chemical composition. V-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra were collected and analyzed to reveal the band gap of the prepared samples and how it changes as the Mn concentration changes in the series of Ca3Ti2-xMnxO7 (x = 0.15, 0.25).
