Abstract

How can we ensure that all of our students find our classrooms to be safe and engaging places for learning? This presentation focuses on curricular and pedagogical approaches that help us work with a range of students students across race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and so on. The session will also address ways in which some common "diversity education" strategies can actually contribute to inequity (such as "service learning" activities that don't consider sociopolitical context).
