How to Build a Student Scholarship Project

Abstract

Many of us are used to collaborating at scholarly level with peers, but working with undergraduate students is a different experience. While students have tremendous potential, many of them also need more structure and support in a mentored research project. Undergraduate students benefit from having a supportive part of a larger project, as long they understand the value of their contribution and are engaged in scholarly conversation with a mentor. By working with students, mentors can get additional support on an on-going project or explore facets of their research that they would not have otherwise.
