Abstract

How does one teach "sustainability," actively and sustainably? We challenge students to synthesize and apply their prior learning to diagnose and help address priority sustainability challenges on campus and in nearby communities. Our pedagogical strategy integrates problem-based action research, reflective discourse, and service learning. Together, these foster students to develop the experience and skills needed to advance sustainability through their scholarship, lifestyles, and careers.
