Abstract

This presentation will show how the WBU Reading Group formed in spring/summer 2013, the different ways that it has been facilitated over the years, examples of activities and prompts that provided conversation. It will consider experiences of participants and will (I hope) include the participation of past participants. It will consider the challenges in implementation. It will consider the takeaways from the experience to argue for the valuable contribution that learning opportunities like this provide for faculty and staff to come together in shared conversation. It will consider learning outcomes for professional development opportunities like this and will connect the work to the university's strategic plan and consider the ways in which the experience can be carried over into classroom experiences for students.
